New Roundabout Emerging in Chino Valley
The roundabout on Highway 89 at Perkinsville Road in Chino Valley is starting to take shape. Over the past few months, ADOT crews have been constructing the roundabout. Weather permitting, crews will switch traffic over to the east side of the roundabout this Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. The traffic shift is scheduled to be in place for the next 4 weeks. Drivers who need to get to Perkinsville Road off Highway 89 will need to use the detour as the road will be closed to through traffic. The west side of Perkinsville Road will be open on weekends and holidays but closed during the Monday through Friday work hours. In addition to the new roundabout, this 1 and a half million dollar project includes removal and replacement of the existing pavement, drainage improvements, new pavement markings and lighting. This project is scheduled to be completed in September.
Carving hearts in Sedona rocks is strictly forbidden
Actress Vanessa Hudgens has 2 options after she allegedly carved a heart into red rock in Sedona 2 months ago. Authorities say Hudgens can either pay a fine and restitution or appear in court. Hudgens posted a picture of the carving, which bears her name and the name of her boyfriend Austin Butler on Instagram around Valentine¡¯s Day. Damaging a natural feature on U.S. Forest Service land is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a maximum 5 thousand dollar fine. On Tuesday, Coconino National Forest officials said they contacted the ¡°Grease Live¡± actress, who was cooperative in providing the specific location of the carving. Officials have referred the investigation results to the U.S. Attorney¡¯s Office in Flagstaff, which has set a potential hearing date.
Roadwork on Prescott Lakes Parkway
Watch for delays on Prescott Lakes Parkway near the Yavapai County Juvenile Detention Center. City of Prescott Street Maintenance crews will be performing work on drainage ditches on Prescott Lakes Parkway, located between Highways 69 and 89 tomorrow and Friday. As a result, 1 of the traffic lanes will be closed. In addition, drainage ditch maintenance will be done near York Motors next Monday through Wednesday. This work will also require a lane closure. $17M value in building permits issued last month!
Prescott Valley building permits are on the rise. Town officials say 339 building permits with a total value of 17 million dollars were issued last month. They include 17 single family homes in the Granville subdivision, 5 homes in Quailwood, 4 each in the Stoneridge and Viewpoint developments, 3 in Pronghorn Ranch, 2 in central Prescott Valley and 1 in Lynx Lake Estates. This number is up from the 339 permits issued in February with a value of 10 million dollars. Two commercial building permits were also issued in March for a new La-Z-Boy furniture store being constructed in front of the Home Depot on Highway 69 and a Bingham Equipment Supply store, to be located off Highway 69 and Enterprise Parkway.
