DPW issues road construction, lane closure updates
The southbound inside lane at the signalized pedestrian crossing construction site near Chamorro Village will remain closed until today due to construction of the median.
The contractor will be marking the southbound lanes of the roads for striping on Tuesday, April 12, and then the northbound lanes on Wednesday, April 13.
Motorists traveling through the area are advised that lane shifts may change to facilitate various construction activities.
There will be no construction activities in progress on the Bile/Pigua Bridge Replacement project. Motorists are advised to heed posted traffic signs and use caution when traveling through the area.
Lane striping is in progress on Route 26 Macheche Road and Route 25 Alageta Street in Dededo. Motorists traveling through the intersection are advised that lane shifts may change to facilitate construction activities and to be aware of new lane configurations, lane shifts, traffic stops and detours during daytime road construction operations.
Repair work on damaged pavement on Route 4 from Dandan Road to Southern Region Health Center in Inarajan is in progress. This work includes setting up traffic control, cutting and repairing existing pavement at locations where damaged pavement will be replaced. Motorists should expect lane restrictions and minor delays, and are advised to proceed slowly and with caution.
The Department of Public Works and the Guam Transportation Program advise motorists to drive cautiously through all construction zones and observe all posted speed limit and construction signs. Alternative routes and adjusting drive times when feasible are encouraged.
