Company wins major road markings contract for iconic ¡ê600m Mersey Gateway
A WORLD class company has won a contract to provide road markings for the iconic ¡ê600 million Mersey Gateway.
L&R Roadlines will instal cats-eyes and anti-skid treatments on more than 38 kilometres of new roads and the six-lane tolled bridge.
The contract has enabled the company to expand and create new jobs that will continue after the crossing is built.
All marking and surfacing materials will be manufactured at the firm¡¯s Hitex plant in Ellesmere Port.
The company is also providing a range of additional works, including temporary lines and road markings to assist with site traffic management and safety during the ongoing construction.
A spokesperson for Merseylink Civil Contractors said: ¡°This contract was awarded to L&R Roadlines as it could demonstrate the experience and expertise required to meet the tight project timescales.
¡°The company has also showed an enthusiastic approach to working closely in partnership with our technical teams, providing advice and guidance on the most appropriate temporary and permanent marking solutions including hydroblast removal and TexBand road crack and joint treatments.¡±
The bridge builders have awarded ¡ê129m worth of contracts to the regional economy since the project started three years ago.
L&R Roadlines contract manager Michael Littleboy said: ¡°We are delighted to be providing road markings and anti-skid treatments for such a prestigious contract.

The firm, established in 1972, is one of the UK¡¯s largest and most trusted road marking and road surfacing contractors and is part of the Hitex International Group.
