Moses Lake prohibits parking along sections of two streets
MOSES LAKE ¨C Street parking along portions of Knolls Vista Drive and Nelson Road in Moses Lake are being removed.
The Moses Lake City Council voted unanimously and without discussion to approve an amendment to an ordinance adding sections where parking along the streets is prohibited to improve safety.
Parking and unloading along Knolls Vista Drive, between North Stratford Road and Northshore Drive, is now banned, according to city documents. It is the side of the road across Stratford Road from the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream store.
Along Nelson Road, from Division Street to Baker Street on the north side, and from Division Street to Skyline Drive on the south side, parking and unloading are prohibited.
¡°The prohibition of parking on this section of Nelson Road will accommodate adding a right turn lane on Nelson Road to help the flow of traffic and increase safety,¡± according to Municipal Services Director Gary Harer.
The new turn lane will be for traffic turning right onto Division Street from Nelson Road.
City officials contacted adjacent residential property owners and noted they did not have any objections to the change.
The only physical change to the sections of roads is the striping will be removed and new striping painted to facilitate the changes.
