Stripy roundabout? Contractors make good roadworks by repainting just the section they've dug up!

Repainted road markings at the Wilton Road, Humberston, junction, including a stripy roundabout, right.

Is this stripy roundabout in Humberston likely to cause confusion to motorists?

Or what about a stripy pedestrian crossing a mile away in Church Avenue, as seen below?

As reported, contractors have been carrying out rolling roadworks in Humberston Road and Church Avenue, Humberston, over the past few weeks to connect the eight planned new wind turbines at Tetney's Bishopthorpe Farm with a sub-station in New Waltham.

The contractors have been digging out a channel to lay cables and then filling it in, before making good the strip by repainting road markings - as they should.

But rather than doing the whole road marking, they are simply doing the strip they have dug up. Which, it is understood, is their only obligation.

It is not suggested that they are doing anything wrong, but, it is highlighting how poor the road markings are in the area - and creating some rather unusual lines and markings on the road, which could cause some confusion.

So far the contractors have been working in Church Avenue, Humberston, where the pedestrian crossing now has one visible stripe, as well as close to the Wilton Road junction, where there is an "s" stop and stripy roundabout, plus an arrow with ... erm ... no arrow.

North East Lincolnshire Council has yet to respond.
